UPDATE 16:00

TalkTalk have had a hacker  or hacking group contact them asking for money. Whether data has been held ransom or not, we dont yet know however the police are investigating and the company are being very restrictive on what they say.

Its looking like customer data would have been leaked and therefore any TalkTalk customer should contact the customer support line immediately.

The attack has left some parts of the companies website in bits. TalkTalk customers will be able to claim a 1 year free subscription to a credit check service where they can monitor their credit score.

Please also note, there will be a rise in fake emails and text messages and in some cases phone calls from scammers pretending to be TalkTalk asking for verification details for the account. Please make sure you do NOT give any details out to any person emailing, texting or calling calling themselves TalkTalk. TalkTalk will know all your details when they call you to inform you of the breach of their system, they will not ask for any account verification details. 


TalkTalk have just announced they’ve fallen victim to a massive cyber attack. The TalkTalk site seems to have fallen victim to a massive DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack by the sounds of reports for now however, their website is currently down (Sales) and their webmail was down on Wednesday for almost the whole day.

It is unknown what damage has been done and what data may have been leaked but TalkTalk are in talks with the authorities and are working hard to get the service back up and running.

TalkTalk had this to say:

“It’s too early to know exactly what data has been attacked and what has been stolen,” she said.

“Potentially it could affect all of our customers, which is why we are contacting them all by email and we will also write to them as well.”

It said there was a chance that some of the following customer data, not all of which was encrypted, had been accessed:

  • Names and addresses
  • Dates of birth
  • Email addresses
  • Telephone numbers
  • TalkTalk account information
  • Credit card and bank details
